Today, with its five guest rooms - plus three additional rooms available exclusively upon private use & rental - its ecological swimming pool and its vast gardens, Villa La Tosca is both our "family home" and that of all the guests we have the pleasure of welcoming. It's a guest house that we've designed in the spirit of a luxury lodge, where every detail has been thought out for the comfort and enjoyment of its guests.

As avid travelers, we've scoured the globe, picking up precious furniture and objects from many countries we've visited that are special to us for their beauty, uniqueness and elegant simplicity. These are the items that decorate each of our five guest rooms. Each object has been lovingly collected and placed, carrying with it a singular memory that we have shared as a family, that of a place, a culture, a moment, to now share with others, somewhat a live “cabinet of curiosities”.
Cultivating a discreet and refined luxury, our rooms each offer their own particular atmosphere, based on a whole palette of sensations and storytelling: the feeling created by a breathtaking 360-degree view of the bay, the intimacy of a soft pebbled cocoon, the serenity of a harmonious zen garden, the joyful energy of colorful tones, the tranquility emanating from a wooden sanctuary….

Please note that for an exclusive privatization of our Villa, three other rooms are also available, for a total capacity of fifteen people.

As we continue to open our beautiful home and land to guests, we have had a strong calling to transmit the values that the space inherently calls for… a deep sense of serenity, joy, connection and wellbeing. With so much tension, disconnection and loneliness that can be present in the world, and our home serving as such a special quiet sanctuary, we have been slowly dreaming up Yuliæn, a holistic wellness brand which offers our home as a place of sharing and our guests a selection of transformative and nourishing experiences that can lead you to deeper inner connection, healthier ways of living and traveling, as well as learning how you can live in more harmony with yourself, others and our planet.
Yuliæn currently offers experiences in the form of retreats, workshops, nightly stays, weekly wellness classes and more. We are in continuous development and have an exciting new project coming soon that we can't wait to share with you!
A symbiosis with our natural surroundings
What makes our location so special is that the initial towns around the bay were created to treat patients with respiratory issues, the subtle alliance of water, air, sand, mud and pine trees create a unique ionized air that is nourishing for our body, mind and soul. The strong tides of the bay pull out the water to leave the mud exposed to the elements. We truly live with the rhythms of Nature, that our guests come to love for its cleansing and deeply peaceful atmosphere.
At Villa la Tosca, you can enjoy long interludes in our gardens or in the ecological swimming pool, where aquatic plants provide a natural filtration and it's as if you are swimming in a river. You can breathe in and soak up the scents of the sea while taking long walks on the beach or through maritime pine forests.
A beautiful Villa built in 1903
Villa La Tosca was built in 1903, right on the beach in the village of Taussat, at the heart of the Arcachon Bay. It is a historical example of the seaside architecture that gave the French coastline its unique and characteristic houses, combining stone, brick and wood. Its rebirth was born of love at first sight, a “coup de coeur” as we say in French ... It was what we felt when we discovered this villa and its vast 4,000 m² grounds in 2005 on a family bike ride. We immediately saw its potential, imagining and dreaming of what a wonderful place it could become for sharing with guests from all walks of life, a home to connect and unite people together.
Heir to a prestigious past, La Tosca is one of those grand residences where large families from the Bordeaux region and beyond used to come for vacation. It was in an unlivable state, and we wished to restore it to its former calling as a "family home", and so we began the careful restoration process, referring to original pictures of the building from 1903 and were guided by an architect of the Bâtiments de France.
